Rolf Breemer, Dolby Atmos & Immersive Audio on SoundBetter

Hi, my name is Rolf Breemer. I am a recording, mixing and mastering engineer for over 30 years (I started in the 80’s up until the 2010’s), made a career-brake and picked up audio engineering again in 2020. Based in the Amsterdam vicinity (in The Netherlands), my passion and specialisation is recording, mixing and mastering acoustic improvised music (i.e. contemporary jazz, latin and world music). The offset is capturing the performance of a singer/singers or musicians of acoustical instruments in a good sounding environment and mix that performance in the most natural way possible. My work accounts for well over 100 projects, more than 1000 mixed tracks and 2M+ plays on Spotify. Being a professional drummer myself (I have studied drums – contemporary Jazz at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam) – I have a good understanding of music. Combined with my passion for audio engineering results in a stronghold for collaborating with artists and musicians.

Last but not least, my newly build mix room is build around a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos surround sound system. Now I’m able to mix fully in the Atmos format for streaming services like Apple Music, Netflix etc. This enables me to mix new productions in surround as well as in stereo. Existing stereo mixes can be up-mixed as well so that back catalog and/or stereo-only masters can be upgraded to the surround format.
